It is very important to me that through my work I can support local families and small communities in difficult financial situations. A portion of the proceeds from the optional programs is dedicated to helping them.
When my guests choose me as their guide, they’re also choosing to make a difference. We bring food and clothing to small Balinese villages — far from the tourist routes — where support truly matters.
I work side by side with my trusted local colleagues — friends who have become like family over the years. Together, our mission is to create experiences and insights that my guests will carry with them for a lifetime, enriching not only their travels but their whole lives.
In the autumn of 2022, the Szilárd Utakon incense was born.I spent a few weeks in Ubud, the spiritual heart of Bali, and at that time I needed to find a new place to stay. There are no coincidences — as I stepped into the courtyard of a beautiful Balinese guesthouse, I was welcomed by the heavenly scent of incense, a Ganesha statue, and a Balinese woman with an extraordinary aura: Widya.
We spent a lot of time together and, as she got to know me better, the scents she brought each day came closer and closer to what I had envisioned. Then one day she handed me a stick and said: “I believe THIS WILL BE THE ONE! By then, we had already tried and tested dozens of different incenses. But when we lit this one, my heart skipped a beat — I knew instantly that this was it. It was born. I had found it. I lived with its fragrance, it inspired me until the very last moment it burned away. And that’s how the Szilárd Utakon incense came to life.
"Szeddalá" is more than just a word — it’s like a magic spell, a fun little mantra we throw into the air. The closest thing in English would be ‘Give it some welly!’ And the best part? Whenever people hear it, their faces light up with a smile — as if they instantly feel the joy and energy hidden in the word.
Anyone who has traveled with me or knows me will confidently shout SZEDDLÁ!
This slogan comes from my dear friend and soulmate, Anikó Póvik. I first heard it from her — and I instantly LOVED it. We started shouting it together just for fun, and later I began using it in Bali as well. For me, Szeddalá! means laughter, strength, safety, and motivation — and my wish is that it brings the same to everyone who hears it.
A few years later came the idea to launch a permanent charity campaign under Szilárd Utakon.
Since the very beginning of my business, it has been a priority for me to support people in need and children struggling with illness. Since June 2022, we have been regularly helping dozens of families in Bali.
I believe that helping and giving back shouldn’t only happen at Christmas, but every single day of the year. Thanks to the amazing creativity and work of my friend, Márk Molnár, the brand identity and logo were born — and from these, beautiful products came to life: sweaters, T-shirts, mugs, tote bags, bucket hats, baseball caps, and water bottles. 5% of the revenue is dedicated to charitable causes.
The community of mothers raising children with disabilities has set the goal of creating a “supported housing” social service. This would provide their children with safe and dignified living conditions for the time when the mothers are no longer able to care for them. Such a home would not function as an institution where life is only about waiting, but as a place offering children with disabilities the possibility of living a full and meaningful life. I would like to helpI started my blog Szilárd utakon in 2017, during my first backpacking trip. Since then, I have been traveling everywhere in the world, sharing my experiences with my readers and followers. Over the past few years, I have given lectures at several travel festivals and in Vienna, and I am also regularly invited to appear in the Hungarian media (radio, TV, online portal, newspaper).
